How to Use Indeed.com to Find Work-From-Home Jobs

A woman is poitning at a screen that says job search.

There are many great reasons to begin your search for a work-from-home job. Whether you’re sick of your commute, want to make money while raising your kids, or simply need a flexible job on the side to earn extra cash, remote jobs can often be a great solution.

Finding legitimate work-from-home jobs can be a bit tricky, though, especially if you don’t know where to start. That’s why you might turn to a platform like Indeed.com at some point in your search.

What is Indeed.com?

Currently, Indeed.com is the top job search website in the world. The website boasts over 250 million monthly visitors, with an average of 10 new jobs being posted every single second across the globe.

When using Indeed.com, you are able to search for positions that meet your needs as far as schedules, pay, experience, and location are concerned. You can also use the platform to further examine specific companies or even explore new positions that may interest you.

Then once you find a job that fits, you can apply directly through Indeed.com, making the process simple and streamlined.

How to Use Indeed.com to Find a Job

There are a couple of different ways that you can use the tools available to you on Indeed.com, to make your work-from-home job search even easier.

Search existing listings

There are millions of job listings available on Indeed.com, with hundreds more added each minute. While only a fraction of those will be a match for you personally, it’s great to know that there is a massive pool of positions from which you can search at any given time.

Sifting through available job listings is easy. If you’re looking for something that is exclusively remote so that you can work from home, you can simply enter “remote” for your location. If you have an idea of the type of work you’re interested in, you can also enter that; otherwise, you can leave the position box blank and simply browse available remote jobs.

Let’s say you’re looking for a virtual assistant position. You want to work from home part-time with a flexible schedule, and don’t care where the hiring company is located. In this case, Indeed.com will give you the results for all remote virtual assistant positions that are currently open.

By clicking on each listing, you can learn more about the job, the company, and the pay. You can also submit your application; some postings will redirect you to the company’s own website, while others will accept your application through Indeed.com directly.

Post your resume

Another option is to let companies come to you when a new job is being posted for which you may be a good fit. This not only makes job-hunting easier but can also help avoid poor matches on either side.

To do this, you’ll simply want to upload your resume to Indeed.com and create a free profile. You’ll enter your job preferences at this time and make a note of what positions you’re seeking. Then, employers can invite you to their job listing as soon as it’s made available if they feel you would be a good candidate.

Don’t have a resume ready or need to update the one you have? No problem. Indeed.com also makes it easy to build a new resume through their website.

Set an Alert

Can’t find an available position that works for you? Set an alert.

By entering your email address, you can get notifications as soon as new jobs are posted that match your search. This means that you can apply faster, and find the right job for you before someone else snags it.

Find the Best Work-from-Home Jobs for You

While Indeed.com is a great place to find job postings, the website is more than that. They also offer certain features and tools to help you not just find a job, but find the best job for you.

With Indeed.com, you can browse through real reviews to see if a company is the right fit for you. This can help you choose between a few great options, or run from a company that would make your work life miserable.

Another way to find the right fit is to search for the top companies in your industry. Then, you can watch for new job postings, or even contact them directly to see if they are willing to open a remote position just for you.

Indeed also offers salary calculators and reports. With these, you can see how much you can expect to earn at your new job. This is a huge bonus when looking for remote jobs, as salaries can vary quite a bit from traditional positions!

What Does Indeed.com Cost?

You won’t pay anything to search for a job on Indeed.com. This is true even if you choose to create a profile, upload your resume, and/or set job alerts.

The platform makes money from companies that post their jobs, not from job-seekers. Because of this, using Indeed.com to at least browse through available work-from-home jobs is a no-brainer.

As a long-time freelance employee, I can personally vouch for the work-from-home life. It has not only helped me earn an incredible income, but I get to do so on my terms and take care of my kids in the process.

Regardless of why you are interested in working from home, finding the right job for you is difficult at times. Using platforms like Indeed.com to find remote positions can make the job search even easier, and the best part is that it’s totally free for you.
