Starting your own online business is the best way to make money as a Pinterest virtual assistant. There are hundreds of business owners, entrepreneurs and bloggers who haven’t been able to harness the power of Pinterest, so there is a large potential client base.

What you will need to get started:

On the Pinterest side

  • Create a Pinterest business account and understand Pinterest marketing strategies.
  • Create designs on free graphic design websites, such as Canva or PicMonkey.
  • Use keywords to write Pin descriptions.
  • Use scheduling tools, such as Tailwind or Boardbooster.

On the business side

  • Name your Pinterest virtual assistant business.
  • Set up a business website (so you can offer your services online).
  • Set up a channel on a social media platform, such as Facebook or Instagram.

I highly recommend taking the course “Become a Pinterest VA Today!” with Kristin Larsen, a Pinterest expert and creator of “Pinterest Presence” and “Side Hustle to Success.” She’s also the founder of BelieveInABudget.com.

“”Don’t think of Pinterest as a social media platform!” says Kristin. “”It’s more of a search engine that displays search results. It’s where people go to shop!” A Pinterest profile can drive big traffic to blogs, online stores and business websites, creating an increase in sales for business owners.

HINT: Your Pinterest management services will not be a hard sell! Your clients will see real results!

Entrepreneurs and bloggers don’t have the time to invest in learning how to drive traffic with Pinterest, or they are overwhelmed by all of the tasks that are involved in creating a successful Pinterest marketing strategy.

Life as a Pinterest virtual assistant

Meet Myla! She has been working as a virtual assistant for a few months now. Myla is sharing how she got started as a Pinterest virtual assistant and her tips for becoming a successful Pinterest strategist. She is consistently making about $30 per hour in Pinterest virtual assistant income in the lifestyle blogging niche.

Myla, tell us about yourself.

I am a single mom/grandma, currently raising a 14-year-old grandson and I have three grown daughters and eight grandchildren. I have worked most of my life in retail management and enjoy helping others succeed!

What has been the most challenging aspect of starting a Pinterest VA business?

The biggest challenge is trying to find clients and sending out those cold pitches. I definitely had more no’s or no response at all before I landed my first client.

Have you always wanted to own your own business?

I really have thought of it off and on throughout the years, but I never had the nerve to take that chance. I sometimes wonder how my life would be now if I had.

Ashleigh’s tip: I felt the same way about blogging. I wish I had started earlier! Taking the first step is scary, but you have to give yourself the grace to fail or you’ll never find the opportunity that is perfect for you! Learning what you aren’t good at is just as important as finding out what you are really good at!

What do you think about investing money in a business? Sometimes it feels scary to put money toward something when you don’t know if it will be successful. What are your thoughts about that?

Your future is a good investment. So if working from home is what you want to do, it may take a little up front, but you’re worth it. Since the Pinterest VA course, I have spent less than $100 on contracts, things of that nature.

What was the scariest thing about starting your own Pinterest business?

It’s always scary starting something new. My biggest fear was what if I never find clients or what if I think I’m doing well then find out I’m not. As I got into the course, I realized that digging in has helped me to overcome my fears. I’ve really learned that perseverance and hard work are so important. And because I took the course, the support is really amazing to help me overcome those days when fear rears its ugly head!

What have you learned the most from starting your own business?

Coffee is my best friend! I put a lot of hours into the virtual assistant services part, and I also started a blog, so I’ve had several nights when I was up till 2 a.m. and back up at 6 and right back at it.

How did you find your first client?

I’m a lifestyle blogger, so I decided to start researching other blogs in my niche. I checked to see if they had a Pinterest account or not, and if so if it needed some attention. Then, I started emailing, and I sent a lot of emails before I got my first client. I did the first month in exchange for a testimonial, and she was happy with my work, so now she’s a paying client. My second client found me on Facebook.

Ashleigh’s tip: Set a realistic goal for yourself. I gave myself a year to start making $1,000 per month with my blog. If I wasn’t making that money from the blog by the deadline, I knew it was OK to walk away from the work-from-home gig knowing that I gave it my all for that year. (I met my goal! 🙂)

What success tips can you share since starting your own business?

Hard work and perseverance are key. I take lots of notes and plan my strategy for the week on Sunday and make myself stay on track. If you stay focused and motivated, nothing can stop you. I always tell myself the only thing stopping you … is you!

What would you say to someone who is looking for a way to work from home?

You may be surprised, once you really start digging in, that there are hundreds of work-from-home opportunities for you. If you love Pinterest as much as I do, you can’t go wrong with this course. I’m enjoying every minute of being a Pinterest VA.
