SAVE FOR LATER

When I was considering becoming a stay at home mom with my first son 5 years ago, I scoured the internet for flexible online jobs. The problem was that with a degree in Elementary Education I didn’t think I had professional qualities that could translate to online work. I didn’t have any certificates in online programs like web design, programming, freelance writing, etc.

I am so excited to share with you the company Upwork. They have an amazing opportunity to work as a freelancer. The best part, I recently was invited to apply for a job in education through Upwork. They have several job opportunities to work with Common Core State Standards in reading and math for companies developing curriculum. I love that I am able to use my experience and field of study to work as a freelancer beyond the typical tutor type of work. I never really thought this was possible before!

Companies that Work with Upwork

Some of Upwork’s clients include:

  • Spotify
  • Pinterest
  • Eventbrite
  • Dropbox
  • Buzzfeed

These are real businesses, that are obviously huge and in need of virtual assistants, social media managers, etc. I feel comfortable applying for jobs through Upwork because I know that I am working with real legit companies. There is also a level of protection and comfort in knowing you are not alone in your freelance work. Upwork is great in connecting businesses and freelance workers.

Currently, I have been invited to apply for 2 jobs. I need to update my profile with my Hubspot certification as well as take more qualifying tests. Once you begin working with companies you can build a reputation that makes it easier to get jobs.

Where have you been freelancing online? Have you tried Upwork?
